WELCOME to the website of the Haitian-American Institute!

On July 4,1942, Haitians and Americans founded a bi-national center to reinforce friendship and cultural ties between their two countries. Located in the heart of Port-au-Prince, the Haitian-American Institute has enjoyed decades of continuous community service and remains faithful to the ideal of its founders.

The Institute has two goals: Teaching English, and Promoting Culture.

Teaching English. With the dedication of our teachers, approximately 4,000 students per day attend classes. To date, over 100,000 students have studied English and successfully pursued a wide variety of professions, both locally and abroad. Also, the Institute is the official center for the SAT and TOEFL tests. The faculty plays a leading role in hosting English teaching seminars.

Promoting Culture. The completion of the 12-classroom building in 1997 and the Grand Hall in 2002 have allowed the Institute to hold cultural affairs and activities. Future plans include art exhibits, food and craft fairs, concerts, special films and conferences, to name just a few.
